Chapter 3 - Cat Fight

The rest of the day was spent searching for the boy with ginger hair. No one
had any clue who he was. It was the last period of the day. They were back
with Ms Alder for English. “Right class, after that strange experience
during break, lets try to do some work…” All day long, the only thing that
was discussed was the strange ‘heroes’. The Digidestined could only smile to
themselves as rumours as to what the creatures were, spread. “I heard that
they are aliens who are going to brainwash us!” “No, no! They are an ancient
race of earth protectors who have risen to fight crime and kick serious
butt!” While the class was getting on with their creative writing, a note
came for Ms Alder. “Attention class! I have just received this note telling
the exact time and date of the grade 10 social! It will be this Friday,
tomorrow, at school, starting at seven and ending at eleven. Please have
your parents or lifts be there exactly at eleven. I am not staying till
twelve to look after you lot, AND I will not be monitoring you, because I
trust that your mouths will NOT be permanently attached to your boyfriends
or girlfriends!” The class laughed at her dramatical act of french kissing.
Kitty looked over to Kouichi as he was walking to Kouji. ‘I wonder if
Kouichi will ask me to the dance. He had better hurry. Lucy is already going
with Takuya. I don’t know about Kouji and Zoë, but I am sure that they will
go together…’ Kitty didn’t realise that she was still staring at Kouichi.
“Are you OK?” asked Kouichi frowning. “Oh? Oh! Yeah, I’m fine! I was just,
er, thinking about something. Something that is going to happen real soon…”
said Kitty, trying to hint. “OK, if you are alright then.” And Kouichi
turned to talk to Kouji again. ‘Hum. Maybe he doesn’t want to go with me to
the dance!’ thought Kitty. A silent tear started to roll down her face.

*BRRRRIIIINNNNGGGG*
The bell rang for the end of school. “Remember class! Read Chapter 7 at home
for tomorrow!” shouted Ms Alder. Kitty barely heard her. So busy thinking
about Kouichi, she wasn’t watching where she was going. “Hey! Careful! You
might hurt someone!” said a kind voice. Kitty looked up and was immediately
lost in pale blue eyes that sparkled as they stared at her. “Oh! I am so
sorry!” said Kitty. She had walked right into a boy with long blonde hair.
Kitty bent down to pick up all her dropped books. The boy reached down too.
Kitty stood up and the boy handed her the rest of her books and papers.
“Thanks…” said Kitty blushing. “No, problem. It’s no trouble to save a
Damsel in Distress. My name is John.” “Hi,” said Kitty, “My name is Kitty.”
John smiled, “A perfect name for a perfect girl…” Kitty blushed even more.
The silence that followed this was broken by Zoë. “There you are Kitty. Lucy
and Kouichi are going up the wall. And here you are. Come on! We have
that…thing… that we need to do…” said Zoë in a suspicious voice. “Oh! Right!
We’ll, I’ll um see you latter then John?” “Sure, Kitty.” Kitty turned and
walked away with Zoë.

“WHO WAS HE????” asked Zoë. “No one. I just bumped into him and he helped me
retrieve my books.” Zoë raised and eyebrow. “Kouichi was worried about you.”
“I was only gone for 1 minuet. Why does he care anyway????” asked Kitty a
little more aggressively than she wanted to be. “Whoa Kitty. I just meant
that I think he wants to…ask you something…” smiled Zoë mischievously.
Kitty’s hearted started beating wildly with hope. ‘Maybe he IS going to ask
me to the dance!’ Kitty walked over to where the others were, Zoë at her
side. “THERE YOU ARE! Where were you?” asked Lucy. Kitty opened her mouth
but Zoë beat her to it. “She was talking to a boy!” Lucy’s face widened with
an evil smile. “A boy?” she asked. “Yes! A boy. Is that a crime????” Kitty
asked. Zoë and Lucy giggled. “Oh well, I’ll see you guys tomorrow. My mom
wants me home early, and I still have to go shopping for the perfect dress.
My mom will be here soon…There she is! Bye guys!” said Zoë. She hugged
everyone. “I’ll walk you to the car.” Said Kouji. Zoë blushed a little, but
then took his hand and together they walked down the paved street to the
bottom gate. Kouichi was staring at Kitty. Kitty was staring at the floor,
blushing. Lucy looked from one to the other. “Takuya, come over here for a
second please!” said Lucy. “What…Sure…” he followed Lucy to a nearby tree.
Kitty fiddled with her books and papers. “Um…Kitty…?” asked Kouichi.
“Yes…Kouichi?” asked Kitty looking up. Kouichi was blushing a little.
“I…um…er…was…um…going to…ask you…if…you would…like to…go…to the
dance…with…me?” stumbled Kouichi. Kitty looked at the floor blushing
crimson. “Of course if you are already going with this boy, then sorry, I
just thought that seeing as we…are a couple that you would want to go
with…me…but,” Kouichi didn’t finish because Kitty had looked up, walked
nearer to him, and kissed him passionately on the lips. Kouichi’s eyes were
wide but then he closed them and deepened the kiss by adding more pressure.
Kitty broke the kiss smiling, “Of course I want to go with YOU! At first I
did think that you weren’t going to ask me, but…” Kouichi smiled broadly and
pulled Kitty into a warm embrace. (Writer: I love that word! I don’t know
why though!?) Lucy came back around the tree, without Takuya. “Where’s
Takuya Lucy?” asked Kitty. “Oh, he went home. His brother was waiting for
him and so he went. Any way, are you two?” Kitty nodded and Lucy smiled at
her.

Kouji came back up the path. “Lucy, your mom is here.” “Oh well, that means
that we are going home Kitty.” Kitty nodded and than stopped, “HEY! I just
had a great idea! Since tomorrow is a Friday, AND it is our social, dance
thingy, why don’t you all come over to my house afterwards and sleepover.
Then on Saturday we can go looking for the other Digidestineds at the mall
and maybe catch a movie!” Lucy gasped, “That…is a GREAT idea! Oh, but Zoë
isn’t here…” “No problem, I’ll phone her on my cell in the car.” Lucy
nodded, “I am in, what about you two?” Kouji looked at Kouichi. Kouichi
looked at Kouji. “Well, if my dad says it’s OK…” “And if my mom says it’s
OK…” “OHHHH, come on you two! It’s not like we are going to get into trouble
at my house, my nanny will never allow ANYTHING to happen. But if your
parents are still unsure, call me and Maria, (The nanny) will put their
minds at rest!” Kouji and Kouichi smiled, “Sure thing!” they said together.
The four of them broke into laughter.
*BEEP BEEP*
“Oops, that’s mom, Kitty we had better go…” Kitty nodded. “Hey,” said Kouji,
“Who will tell Takuya?” Kitty pointed to Lucy, “She calls him EVERY day!”
Lucy blushed but then waved bye, grabbed Kitty and together they went to
Lucy’s mom’s car. ‘Tomorrow is gonna be GREAT!’ thought Kitty.

“Midnightmon…Do you think I look good in this?” asked Kitty. Midnightmon
sleepily opened one eye, “You look purr-fect…Don’t worry, Kouichi will love
you all the same, good dress or bad one…Now if you would excuse me, I am
sleeping.” Midnightmon’s eyes closed and she curled up in a ball. The sun
was just beginning to set. The orange glow of the sun was just starting to
disappear. Kitty looked at herself in the mirror again. She was wearing a
black dress, which had a slit down the left leg. There was bright pink
stitching down the side, so it was a little open. Lastly, pink blossoms ran
up the side and front of her dress, ‘I do look good…I hope that Kouichi
thinks so…’ Kitty reached onto her bed to get her bag when a knock on her
door stopped her. “Come in…Midnightmon-HUSH!” The door opened and Maria her
nanny, come inside, “Sorry to bother you, and my, don’t we look smart!” she
cried. Kitty blushed slightly and smiled. “Well, anyway, Mrs Stone is here
about the party tonight. She is doing the catering. But…she bought her
daughter and she is a PAIN!” Kitty laughed, “Oh, I am sure that she isn’t
that bad!” Maria laughed too, “Well, then come and meet her before you go!”
Kitty sighed and then nodded, “I’ll see you tonight Midnight.” Midnightmon
opened her eyes and meowed. Maria didn’t know that Midnightmon was a
Digimon, she thought she was a spoiled cat. “Putting necklaces on cats…What
will they do next?” Maria walked out and Midnightmon dozed off again.

Kitty came down the stairs and was met by an amusing sight. A girl with long
turquoise hair was studding all the china and silver in the cabinet by the
foot of the stairs. She was muttering about ‘money.’ “Um…Can I help you?”
Kitty asked. The girl looked up. She was wearing a green dress with red
scarf around her neck and red shoes to match, “What…No, I am fine, I was
just…looking.” She said. Kitty smiled, “I am Kitty…” The girl looked her up
and down, “I’m Melody. Are you going somewhere?” Kitty nodded, “Yeah, I’m
going to this dance at my school.” Melody’s face lit up, “A dance?? I LOVE
Dances! I’ll come too!” Kitty raised an eyebrow, “I’m sorry, but it is only
for Grade 10’s at my school. They wouldn’t let you in…” Melody scowled,
“Well sugah, my mom can get me into any place I want, so there! I am going
and you can come too if you want…” Kitty only now began to hear the strange
accent, ‘She sounds a lot like Ranamon, that’s strange…’ “Well…sugah…I am
going and you can try to get in if you want to, but good luck.” Said Kitty,
trying to sound kind. Melody cracked, “I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT TO, AND
DON’T MOCK MY VOICE YOU…YOU…ORPHAN! Your parents probably killed themselves
once they had you, who would want to be near you!” Kitty was shocked, “HOW
DARE YOU INSULT MY PARENTS AND ME! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE MISSY?” Melody
gasped, “Fine, you can rot here with all your silver and jewels, ALONE!”
Melody flipped her hair and stormed out. Kitty looked at her as she went,
‘If the new Digidestined are anything like THAT, then I will quit!’

The car pulled over and Kitty got out. It was quite cold out side, but it
would get warmer inside while everyone was dancing. Kitty walked to the
entrance doors and saw Lucy, Takuya, Kouji, Zoë and Kouichi all standing
talking. “Sorry I am late guys, this brat came over and we ended up having a
bit of a cat-fight. I almost hit her!” Lucy smiled kindly, ‘You can tell us
about it later, but right now, the music is calling me, come one Takuya!”
Lucy pulled Takuya towards the dance floor. “Kitty? Zoë, Kouichi and I can
come to sleepover, so can Lucy and Takuya.” Said Kouji. “That is the best
news today! Especially after Miss High and Mighty!” Zoë laughed and then
pulled Kouji towards the dance floor too. Kouichi stared at Kitty. “Kitty,
you look fantastic!” Kitty blushed, “I’m only as fantastic as you are!”
Kouichi smiled, “Do you wanna dance?” Kitty nodded and the two of them went
onto the dance floor. After half an hour of dancing and laughing, Kitty
excused herself and went to the bathroom, as she left she saw Lucy and
Takuya dancing. The two of them seemed to be the life of the party, laughing
and getting everyone’s sprits up. Near them were Kouji and Zoë. Zoë was
resting her head on Kouji’s shoulder while they slow danced.

When Kitty came out of the bathroom, she reached the spot were Kouichi was
last standing and she saw Melody flirting with Kouichi. Anger boiled up
inside of her. She stormed over to Melody. “Excuse me!” she said, hands on
her hips. “What? Oh…It’s you. What do you want?” “I want you to keep your
hands off him flirt!” said Kitty, fire in her eyes. Melody stared back at
her with an icy stare. “I am no flirt!” “Whatever! And what are you doing
here anyway? This is a Grade 10 dance, remember! You are definitely not in
Grade 10!” said Kitty. “Well Sugah,” said Melody, flipping her hair at
Kouichi and still speaking with her heavy accent, “My mother is doing the
catering, and so I got a V.I.P access pass to anything I want…” she said,
eyeing Kouichi. “YOU DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO HIM! He is MY Date AND BOYFRIEND,
so…GET LOST!” Kitty shouted. Melody frowned even more. “I warn you sugah, I
can get nasty!” Kitty laughed, “OH! I didn’t know that anyone could get
nastier than you are now! And I am also warning you, I can get dangerous and
you will be in trouble!” “Well, I can get dangerous too, more than you
know!” Kitty smiled. “Oh really. Show me.” “Outside.” Said Melody. She
turned around and headed to the exit. Outside it was quite chilly. Kitty
shivered as the stepped out into the wind. Suddenly a warm arm surrounded
her shoulders, Kouichi stood behind her smiling warmly. Melody stood by a
large tree, her hair flowing in the wind. “So, show me. I can do better than
anything you can do!” Kitty said. Melody smiled icily. She removed the scarf
that she was wearing and around her neck was a very strange necklace. It
looked like the watch that the mysterious boy had. Kitty looked shocked. “If
the necklace has shocked you sugah, what it can do will make you die!
EXECUTE……………SPRIT EVOLUTION…………RANAMON!
Before Kouichi and Kitty stood the Legendary Warrior of Water, Ranamon.
“Well sugah, you are in for it now! May I introduce myself, I am Ranamon,
The Legendary Warrior of Water, and now it is time for you to pay girlie!”
Kitty and Kouichi were just too shocked. ‘Ophanimon said nothing about the
other sprits belonging to these children, what is going on?’ thought
Kouichi. ‘It’s Ranamon! But how? Kouji should have her sprit!’ thought
Kitty. “Excuse me…You said you were dangerous, so prove it.” Kitty shook her
head, “Ranamon, it’s us…Don’t you remember?” Ranamon showed no sign of
recalling Kouichi or Kitty. “I know that you are the annoying girl that I
met today, and only today, I have never seen you before that! Now…FIGHT ME!”
cried Ranamon.

Back at the dance Kouji and Zoë had decided to take a break. They headed
over to the bar and ordered drinks. “Kouji, I am having such a great time!
This is SO cool!” Kouji smiled, “Yeah, and I am glad that you came with me…”
Zoë blushed slightly, “What kind of a girlfriend would I be if I didn’t come
with you?” Kouji then blushed faintly. ‘I am so glad that he is part of the
group. At first he wasn’t willing to come near us, only if he HAD to…He is
much sweeter kinder…’ thought Zoë, staring at Kouji leaning her face on one
of her hands. Kouji looked up from his drink and frowned as Zoë started at
him. “Do I have something on my face?” he asked, misunderstanding her stare.
He reached up to feel his face. “What? Oh, no you don’t. I was just thinking
about the Digital World and how glad I am that you are…aren’t such a
‘lone-wolf’ anymore…” said Zoë as she reached up and removed his hand from
his face. She held it tenderly and the two looked at each other in silence.
Then Kouji leaned forward to Zoë. She closed her eyes and did the same.
Their lips touched lightly. Zoë leaned forward a little more, and Kouji
intensified the kiss. After a while Kouji felt a little bolder and lightly
pushed his tongue against Zoë’s lips. At first she was a little startled,
they had never done it before. She slowly opened her mouth and her tongue
felt Kouji’s tongue wrapping around hers.

“Takuya! Slow down! I am EXAUGSTED! Why are you so full of energy today? Oh
well, when are you not energetic?” laughed Lucy as she and Takuya danced on
the dance floor. Takuya laughed too, “Hey, I am naturally this way! You knew
that when we decided to get together, you knew what you were getting
yourself into!” Lucy stopped dancing and walked closer to Takuya, “Yeah, but
the only reason why I am your girlfriend is…you…wear goggles!” Lucy burst
out laughing at her own joke. Takuya didn’t find it that amusing, “Why? What
is wrong with my goggles?” he asked crossly. “Oh Takuya, don’t be mad at me!
Goggles look so good on you, and…I can always spot you in a crowd!” Lucy
smiled impishly. She leaned over to Takuya and kissed him on the lips.
Takuya was surprised at first but he applied more pressure and deepened the
kiss, while wrapping his arms around her waist. Both Zoë, Kouji, Lucy and
Takuya didn’t feel, hear or notice anything around them. They were in
heaven. But heaven, as everyone knows, only appears when you are…dead.

“AAAGGGHHH!!!! You are IMPOSSIBLE! What the hell is wrong with you? Just
leave me alone!” Both couples looked up and saw on the dance floor, two
people fighting. A red haired girl was trying to hit a guy with brown hair
who was outmanoeuvring her blows. Takuya and Lucy were nearest them and
immediately went to help. “Hey! What is going on here?” asked Takuya
standing in front of the girl. “Get out of the way!” screamed the girl. She
tried to punch Takuya but someone hit her from the side. “How dare you try
to hurt someone who is trying to help you?” screamed Lucy, frowning over the
girl. “GO AWAY…EVERYBODY!” screamed the girl as she ran to the exit crying
in her hands. Takuya went up to the boy. Obviously he and Takuya read the
same fashion magazine since this boy also had goggles. This boy on closer
inspection had dark blue eyes to go with his dark brown hair. He had a blue
and red cap on backwards and over this was a pair of goggles much like
Takuya’s. “Hey, dude, who was she? What happened?” asked Takuya. “That,”
began the boy, “was Roxy, or Roxanne. She was my girlfriend until yesterday.
She broke up with me because she saw me talking to my lab partner. She got
all jealous and said that I was flirting and this other rubbish. I tried to
explain but she didn’t want to hear anything. I am here with my sisters,
they are in grade 10. I saw Roxy and tried to make up, but…as you saw, she
still hasn’t gotten over it.” The boy sighed. Lucy shook her head. “Shame…My
name is Lucy, and this is Takuya.” Lucy pointed to her boyfriend. “Oh yeah,
my name is Tioko. Hi.” Takuya shook his hand, ‘Cool watch…It looks a little
like it was from…’

Roxy stormed off to the exit, but when she got there, two people were
blocking it. “Move, I want to get out!” shouted Roxy. “We will move when you
tell us why you attacked that boy!” said Kouji. “FINE!” yelled Roxy. Kouji
and Zoë leaned back, out of harms way. “I ‘attacked’ that boy, Tioko,
because he was two-timing me. As from yesterday I WAS his girlfriend, but he
flirted with another girl and asked her out, and so I left him. He shouted
at me tonight and so I had to…er…protect…yes, protect myself!” said Roxy
stumbling over her words. Kouji raised an eyebrow. She seemed to not know
the whole story with the way that she paused after every word. “OK, but next
time, take it out side…” Zoë was saying. To stop Zoë from speaking, Roxy put
her hand up and turned away and walked through the other doors, leading
outside into the night. “Oh, by the way chick, be careful that your guy
doesn’t do that to you!” “Shesh, someone has a little attitude problem.”
Said Zoë. She turned to Kouji to see if he would agree. He was staring at
Roxy, mouth hanging open, eyes wide. “KOUJI! Why are you looking at her like
that????” demanded Zoë. “What…No, Zoë, you have the wrong idea. The necklace
that she was wearing looked…it looked…Digital, like it was from the Digital
World!” Zoë gasped, “Then she must be one of the Digidestined! GREAT! We
have to save the world with her negative attitude. This is gonna be a LONG
mission.” Kouji agreed, “Well, at least we know who to go to now, that boy,
Tioko, she was fighting…”

“Kouichi, what should I do?” Kitty asked, worried, “I can’t fight her! She
won’t stop until one of us is gone!” Kouichi nodded, “Maybe, once she sees
that you can also become a Digimon, maybe she will stop.” Kitty nodded,
“Right, here it goes…
EXECUTE…………SPRIT EVOLUTION…………CRYSTALMON!
Crystalmon appeared and Ranamon gasped, “WHAT???? You can do this too????
WHY! HOW?” “Ranamon, it’s me! Don’t you remember?” asked Crystalmon. “I
already told you girlie…I DON’T KNOW WHO YOU ARE!” Crystalmon was very
confused, ‘If she is really Ranamon, then she must know who she is and who
we are…’ “Look, Ranamon or Melody, do you know who you are?” Ranamon
laughed, “Of course I do! I am the prettiest girl to walk the earth. Boys
will be drooling and lining up for me now!” Ranamon laughed. Crystalmon and
Kouichi sweat-dropped. “Ranamon, you are the Legendary Warrior of Water! You
were our enemy once, in the Digital World, do you remember that?” Ranamon
raised an eyebrow, “Sweetie, I have no idea what you are talking about. All
I know is that I can control water and that is SO COOL! I don’t care who you
are, but I am gonna destroy you! DRAININ RAIN!” a large black cloud appeared
over Crystalmon’s head. “Too slow!” shouted Crystalmon as she disappeared
and reappeared away from the cloud. (Writer: Think of Renamon’s psychic
ability!)  Again and again Ranamon tried, but Crystalmon was always too
swift. “What? How did you do that? I am the strongest! WHY CAN’T I HIT YOU?”
Crystalmon smiled, revealing large canines, “You don’t know something, and
that is why you are so weak!” Ranamon frowned. “I am the Legendary Warrior
of Stars, I currently am in my element, Stars only come out at night, and it
happens to be night! You can’t beat me!” “Well, we’ll see about that!”
Ranamon quickly moved to Kouichi and gabbed him. “NO! KOUICHI! LEAVE HIM
ALONE!” Crystalmon lunged forward, but Ranamon ran behind the hall.
Crystalmon followed. Around the hall, Ranamon jumped over the dividing fence
and landed inside the swimming pool area. ‘HA! Let her try to beat me now
that I am in my element!’ thought Ranamon. Crystalmon appeared on the edge
of the pool, “GIVE KOUICHI BACK!” screamed Crystalmon. “Fine! I don’t need
him anymore! HA! You have fallen right into my trap sugah! I am in water
now! You are going to lose!”

Sorry, exams and packing for the holidays have taken over and so I have to
leave it there, but ponder this: Who will win? Will they EVER find the other
Digidestineds and when will the other seasons have an appearance? The
answers to these and more questions shall be answered…NEXT TIME ON Digimon:
